SME housebuilders are set to benefit from a major new funding partnership between Relendex and the British Business Bank.
Relendex, a specialist peer-to-peer property finance platform, has secured £15 million through the Bank’s Investment Programme, aimed at unlocking finance for smaller housebuilders and developers across the UK.
As part of the scheme, the British Business Bank will co-invest up to 25% in each eligible loan, alongside Relendex’s private and institutional investors. This blended funding model is designed to widen access to finance, particularly for SMEs that have traditionally faced barriers when approaching mainstream lenders.
For the construction and housebuilding sector, this partnership offers a significant opportunity to accelerate housing delivery, support local economies, and create new employment opportunities. With SME developers playing a vital role in delivering much-needed housing, the £15m commitment could help unlock stalled projects and bring forward new developments.
Supporting the Wider Supply Chain
The Masonry Association of Great Britain welcomes this initiative, which is expected to provide a direct boost not only to SME housebuilders but also to the wider construction supply chain. Increased activity in small and medium-sized projects will generate demand for high-quality materials, skilled labour, and specialist services—including masonry and related trades.
At a time when rising costs and regulatory pressures are creating challenges for construction businesses, access to flexible finance is an essential tool to maintain momentum and deliver homes across the country.
Looking Ahead
This partnership reflects a growing recognition of the importance of SMEs in meeting the UK’s housing needs. The Masonry Association will continue to monitor the impact of this funding and advocate for policies and initiatives that enable SMEs—and the masonry sector in particular—to thrive.
